Astrologer’s Reflection: Confronting Death, and other 8th House Matters.

Let’s talk about some of the darker aspects of astrology—those mysterious and often intimidating themes like death, transformation, and rebirth. The 8th house and Pluto remind us that endings are a natural part of life’s cycle, making room for new beginnings. These cosmic lessons can be challenging, but they also offer profound growth and transformation.

There are myriad asteroids that can give us insight into when these themes will be relevant in our lives. It’s not something I recommend lightly. All of us have “Death Windows” in our lifetime, many of them actually. Those moments where if you had gotten into that car, or taken one more step to the left, but didn’t, and it ended up saving your life. Those habits you felt forming but chose to put down before they took over. These are what I term “Death Windows.”

If you’re hoping to learn how to identify them, this post won’t cover that. I will, however, share some relevant asteroids and their generic meanings. Just remember, looking for Death Windows isn’t for the faint of heart.

  • #2254 Requiem – The Catholic Mass of the Dead. This asteroid shows up in transit when death is the topic at hand. It applies to all types of death, not just the physical.
  • #273 Atropos – “The Cutter.” One of the Three Sisters of Fate, also known as “The Inflexible.” She cuts the thread of life and determines how things end, including lives.
  • #71 Niobe – Represents loss through pride and the loss of close family members (parent or child). It can be useful in custody situations.
  • #248 Lameia – Signifies grief at the loss of something precious that cannot be replaced (family member, a limb).

Now, onto a personal update. In May, I experienced a very mild stroke. It was an unexpected event that brought many of these themes into sharp focus for me. Thankfully, it was caught early, and I’m on the road to recovery. During this time, I had to step away from the blog to focus on my health and healing. Your understanding and patience during my absence have been incredible and heartwarming.

This experience has given me a lot to reflect on, and I’m looking forward to bringing these new insights into my astrology teachings. I’m eager to get back to sharing cosmic wisdom and reconnecting with all of you.
